Selected Articles: What Future for the Global Economy? Analysis and Commentary.

Selected Articles: What Future for the Global Economy? Analysis and Commentary.

Did You Read those Articles ?

Yes?

Good for you. Now you have stuff to think over if someone shows up to sell you on some get rich quick scheme that will blow up in your face and make you a whole lot poorer if you invest.

No?

I guess that either you didn't need that information or you just don't care one way or another. Maybe it doesn't apply to you all that much or not at all.

Where do we think we'll get to in Life with all those maybes?

I read some of the first one and understood very little of the technical stuff in there. There's only very little technical jargon in economists' articles that I'm able to absorb and understand the first time I read them.

I have to go back over and over again when there's something I don't enjoy reading that has information in it that I need to understand before getting to do things I'd prefer to invest my time in.

How important do you think it is for you or me to have read it enough times to get it?

If President Obama read it, do you think he'd understand what it says with all those jargon words in there?  I'd say he does and he would understand it the first time he read it.

How come he doesn't speak to us with the language that's in there?  He wants to connect with us at our level.

But the economy oriented writers who write articles like these - they write for economy oriented readers who would understand that sort of word and what it would mean for them.

Another thing, do they want us to understand that sort of stuff that's in those articles?

I think they don't care one way or another. If you or I read it or try to, and we don't get it, someone else will.  That's how they see it.  These writers don't write that sort of thing with readers like you or me in mind.

Did you see a tv ad for a certain insurance company for car drivers?

The story line scene in that ad is that there are two women in there.

One is a knowledgeable insurance professional.

The other woman, the one standing next to her, is a car driver or car owner who has car insurance because she has to have insurance to keep her driver's license activated.

Now that second lady, the one who is forced to have auto insurance, got the insurance but she didn't read the paperwork that came with the policy. She got into a car problem and then she needed to make use of the benefits of the insurance.

But then, she didn't follow instructions or she got into some unexpected complication so the insurance she got, will now not cover her needs as much as she expected when she got the policy.

The first lady I mentioned, the insurance professional, is now saying that she contributed to her current trouble because she failed to read any of the paperwork she should have read when she got the policy.

The second lady, the one who's in bigger trouble now, answers back, "Who reads that stuff?"

Post Mortem on a Careless Consumer Who Got Herself Burned Unnecessarily

She, like you and I, prefers to spend that money on shoes, food, party, whatever is fun to spend money on. Me too.
And she likely would prefer reading a fun magazine or a romance novel.

Most typical guys today would prefer reading something about sports, or guns, or a new video game, or xbox, or something like that. Me too.

Neither that lady nor that guy wants to have to spend their time reading the long pages of text that show up on insurance policy paperwork. It's boring and the jargon in there is dense. It's no fun to read.

Another TV Ad but with a Very Different Consumer

A fancy and expensive long limo drives into a tire garage and a man comes out of the car and asks the attendant a number of questions about the tires he sells.

The attendant is very knowledgeable about his business and answers the questions well. The last question, one in which he was asked if the tires he sold came with a written guarantee, was also answered affirmatively and in detail by that attendant.

After all the questions were asked and answered, the attendant then asks, "Why does a man like him bother with a written guarantee?"

The rear window of the limo goes down and an arm comes out.  The hand at the end of that arm, wiggles the finger for the attendant to get close to the window.

When the attendant looks inside, there is a older looking gentleman dressed very well in an expensive looking suit. Across from him, seated is a secretary taking down short hand.

At that moment, the older looking gentleman looks at him, and asks the attendant in a low tone, "How do you think a man like me got to be a man like me?"

ANALYSIS

What a difference between these two examples. One is a woman who bought car insurance and didn't bother reading the papers and presumed that no one else did either.

The other is an extreme opposite of her.

He is the big-shot older executive who insisted on getting written guarantees for even the smallest of purchases and who knew how to get through to others - Those who are more like that lady rather than like himself, who makes a fuss over even small purchases.

Which of the two, do you think, will be less likely to have to go through an unnecessary hassle, a self-inflicted trouble situation?

When a super wealthy and powerful business person like the CEO in that second tv ad makes a big fuss on insisting in getting a written guarantee for something like tires for a car, he knows how valuable his time is, and he knows how much valuable time gets wasted when an unnecessary hassle arises.

When We Read what We Don't Feel like Reading, Because Knowing such Information Is Useful, after we did it  . . .

We're a whole lot happier, aren't we now?

When we need to call the insurance people to make a claim on an auto accident, and we understand the steps we need to take, what's covered and what isn't, guess what?

We're glad we took time to have read the boring, dense, pages of text that explained everything in detail.

When it's time to apply that information to our daily grind, our life situations, we worry less. We suffer less. Life feels a whole lot less painful.

And Guess What that Means?

THAT'S ANOTHER HASSLE WE BLOCKED OUT OF OUR WAY!

Now you too know what this blog is here to teach.

So going back to the beginning, the article on the economy, it's possible, maybe even likely, that if you come into some money sooner or later, someone's going to want to sell you on some investment.

Let's say that you read that article and studied the charts in there.  And let's say that some of the data in there is verified as accurate.

Let's say that some other information isn't so accurate. But you found some sources that show you where all the differences are and how far apart they are, guess what friend?

You're better Equipped than before, with Knowledge that's Ready to Use - Right Now.

When that person wants to show up in front of you and sell you on an investment, and they give you a song and dance on what the economy's doing, you can demand that they put their claims in writing so that you can look it over, think things over, and then arrive at a yes or no decision.

If that person objects to what you're demanding or tries to rush you to make a hasty decision, you get to kick ém out of your space.
